The “Llavor” project called E-jet, aims at the development of new 3D printing technology that makes use of electrohydrodynamic jets. The project consisted in developing the technology, reaching a higher maturity level and understanding how to get benefits from this technology. A training course focused on how scientists from research centres can reach the latter was also part of the project. It finalised in January 2020, had a duration of 6 months.

A legal viability analysis of the technology was done, and the protection of the additive manufacturing system was processed. Two patent requests based on the electrodynamic manufacturing were filed with the Patent and Trademark Office,

A commercial viability study was also conducted in order to identify possible competitors of our technology in the 3D printing market. Different methods to bring the technology to market quickly and efficiently were also completed. Finally, the key financial parameters and ratios were appointed in order to determine whether a company would be profitable.

The Catalan’ Government’s Agency for Management and of University and Research Grants (Agencia de Gestió i Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca -AGAUR-) has awarded this the project with a Llavor grant (2018 LLAV 0044-EJET). The project is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development fund (ERDF) and supported by the Secretary of Universities and Research of the Ministry for Business and Knowledge of the Government of Catalonia.
