A scientific article authored by members of IREC’s Nanoionics and Fuel Cells group, as well as researchers from the Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia (ICN2), has recently been published as a cover in the Journal of Materials Chemistry A.

The paper, entitled “Thin film oxide-ion conducting electrolyte for near room temperature applications”, shows that stabilized bismuth vanadate thin films are a superior oxide ionic conductor, suitable for applications in solid state electrochemical devices operating near room temperature. At reduced temperatures, in thin film-based devices, the material exhibits unmatched conduction properties and at the same time shows good stability over a wide oxygen partial pressure range.
